Learner Experience

“Before I transitioned to high school, I was really nervous! I was so worried about the size of the school, the new teachers and the older learners. When I arrived in September, I initially still felt nervous but now I look back and think ‘what was I so scared about?’ I quickly realised that high school isn’t scary after all!”

“Going in to high school, I felt happy rather than scared. I was looking forward to all the new lessons I was going to do such as History which is way more fun now; PE because the teachers are friendly and IT because it is brilliant! Going to high school I met a lot of my friends from football and I met new people who now are some of my best mates. At lunch time there are a lot of activities to do such as board games, volleyball, badminton and football on the 3G Pitch. The food in the canteen is really nice my favourite is the sausage butties. One thing that is very different in high school is the corridors are much busier but you’ve got nothing to worry about you will be fine.”

Feedback from Parents

“Connah’s Quay High School offers students an enriching environment where they gain independence and responsibility. Some Year 7 parents have noted that the school provides their children with more freedom, empowering them to manage their own schedules and take control of their learning journey. This newfound independence is key in helping students grow and discover their potential. Moreover, interactions with the school and the feedback from the Year 7 parents have been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting a supportive and well-managed learning environment.”

At Connah’s Quay High School, we understand the importance of transition for our Year 6 learners and value its many benefits. That is why it is our mission to provide a smooth, informative and most importantly, enjoyable experience.

Transition prepares your child for the move up to ‘big school’, alleviates any worries they (or you!) may have and allows key members of staff to begin to build positive working relationships in readiness for the next academic year.

On this tab you will find lots of useful information including a helpful guide on what to expect during your first year with us as well as an opportunity to meet key members of staff.

We are looking forward to warmly welcoming you to Connah’s Quay High School in September.
