Dear Parent / Carer

Re: Uniform Policy

The aim of our uniform policy is to enable learners to identify with their school and to dress
appropriately for a focused learning environment. The wearing of correct school uniform is
considered to be of a high priority and a compulsory element of attending Connah’s Quay High
School.

It has been noted on return from the Christmas holiday that many learners are not meeting our
basic expectations with regards to school uniform.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our school uniform policy (as published in
our School Prospectus available from school and on the school website
(Uniform Policy). We would ask all parents and carers to cooperate with us to
ensure that uniform requirements are met. I have enclosed a copy of the school uniform policy
for your information.

I am aware that the wearing of trainers is commonplace. This puts us in a difficult situation as
the majority of learners at this point in the school year may not have a pair of school shoes.
I believe that it would be unfair of me to expect parents and carers to purchase school shoes for
half of the remaining school year. Therefore, as a compromise, the school will permit the wearing
of plain black footwear this academic year. My expectation for September 2023 will be that
learners wear school shoes and not trainers.

From Monday, 27th February 2023 the school will enforce the rest of the policy rigorously,
persistent failure to comply with uniform standards will be seen as open defiance to school rules
and therefore be addressed under our behaviour policy.

I hope that you as parents and carers understand the importance of cooperating with us on this
matter and would be grateful if you could please ensure your son/daughter is in full and correct
uniform.

Yours faithfully
for Connah’s Quay High School
