Earlier this week, we ran our Safe Evacuation Drill of the school building.  This is standard procedure, however, we felt it was important to practise it following an isolated incident.

I want to be honest with all of you, to share this information and to acknowledge this was a challenging day, but, above all, to affirm that procedures were followed well. Staff have been exemplary in offering reassurance, a sense of calm, and a secure return to a focus on learning.

The evacuation was a precautionary measure, intended to ensure the safety and well-being of the pupils, whom are to be commended for following our established procedures well, supported by all members of staff. The welfare and well-being of the children and the adults in our community are uppermost in our minds, at all times.

As we have decided, without prejudice, to refer the matter to the Police, we are now unable to comment further on any of the specifics. We would like to thank all parents and carers for their understanding, trust and confidence as we allow matters to follow due process.

I wish all pupils and families a safe and happy half term break, when school closes at the end of Friday,

Mrs Maria B. Rimmer,

Interim Headteacher
