9th March 2021

Dears parents/carers,

Following the announcements by the Minister for Education and the continuing fall in infection rates locally, I am now
in a position to confirm our arrangements for the return to school.

Learners in year 11, return to school on Monday, 15th March, for this day only, school hours will be 10.30am –
1.30pm, following this normal school hours will resume for year 11. School will be open from 8.40am for learners.
Learners in year 10 will attend for two days, Friday, 19th March 10.30am – 1.30pm and Monday, 22nd March normal
school hours.

Learners in years 7 to 9 will return for a check-in and catch-up on the following days:

Year 7 on Tuesday, 23rd March – 10.30am – 1.30pm
Year 8 on Wednesday, 24th March – 10.30am – 1.30pm
Year 9 on Thursday, 25th March – 10.30am – 1.30pm.

Learning will continue online for years 7-10 apart from their allocated days until the end of the school day, Thursday,
25th March, when the Easter holidays begin. It is really important that learners attend school on their allocated
day/days as we move to a full return after the Easter holidays. The school will not be open to learners until 8.40am
each morning.

Provision for children of key workers will continue to be offered, although they will need to remain in the bubble they
have been in and not mix with the rest of the year groups.

It is very important that learners continue to act responsibly both in school and at home. This means that we will be
adhering very strictly to our risk assessment and learners will be expected to wear face coverings inside the building
at all times, as recommended by Welsh Government guidelines, and when travelling on the bus. Learners should
continue to keep to the guidance outside of school too. This includes limiting the number of people that they have
contact with and maintaining social distancing.

School transport will operate as normal for year 11. Free school meal payments will continue to be paid until learners
return to school after Easter.

There will be no hot provision for food; sandwiches and drinks will be offered at lunchtime only. Learners will need to
bring in refreshments for break time.

This long-awaited return has taken detailed planning and I thank all in our Connah’s Quay community, learners,
families, staff and governors for their cooperation during the difficult past few months.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Yours faithfully

Mrs A Harrison
